Chief Tammy Cook-Searson is the first elected female Chief of the Lac Ronge Indian Band. The Lac Ronge Indian Band is comprised of six reserve communities making it one of the largest First Nations in Canada. Being raised as a child on the family trapline she is fluent in Cree and proud of her heritage. She understands the value of culture, language and community which she incorporates in her leadership and continues to practice her outdoor skills with family and friends out on the land. In 2012 Tammy was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her contributions and committed leadership. Chief Tammy continues to tirelessly campaign and advocate to meet the needs of her communities.
